| Tweet three times today. |
If you need tweeps to follow, here are two lists:
As far as your responses, it's not rocket science. You can respond with a "great article" or "cool quote." A great way to spread the wealth on Twitter is to RT (re-tweet) the original tweet with a little note. This accomplishes two things: one, it lets the tweep know that you appreciated their tweet (and helps build a bond with that person); and two, it brings attention to that person for their cool tweet.
Plus, it helps show that you know how to pick great resources on Twitter, which automatically improves your credibility as a resource on Twitter.
Anyway, have at it. Today should be easy peasy, one-two-threesy.

I am @SocciWriter on Twitter. Without having looked at today's chlaange, I had already spent a few minutes looking at my list of recent followers & followed a bunch of new writer tweeps.
I try to offer words of encouragement to fellow writers who fall short of their writing goals by helping to keep the spirit alive. It is their attempt and not completion of the challenge that I am supporting.
I may sound like a broken record, but I generally like to offer hearty encouragement for people to "Keep the faith" to help writers keep the momentum.
I am done with today's challenge and generally do send multiple replies to Twitter folks.
Off to tweet just as soon as I ask this question.
If I click on the RT icon it simply sends the tweet, w/out giving me the opportunity to write anything into it before it sends. Is there a way to do this so I can add a few words before it’s sent. Right now I cut and paste the RT portion into a new tweet.
Thanks,
@ProNagger
Yes, Rachel, what I do is copy the tweet I want to RT. Then, I paste it into a new message with the RT and the twitter handle of the person I'm RT-ing.
That's a sound strategy, Amanda!
For some reason, I'm not always able to copy and paste the tweets. (The pasting part doesn't always work.) But I agree--that's the ideal way.
Yes, this one was easy-peasy, Robert. "Done." Thanks!
Done....it's a whole new world and out of my comfort zone, but I'm willing
Done. So much amazing content to choose from! I am going to try to check in on everyone if I can.
Done. Now I'm turning off this computer so my brain can migrate back to my head.
Done. :D
All done. Maybe if I make this a daily practice this month I'll be able to make it a permanent habit. Awesome to get so many new friends on Twitter!
Just a quick question and then off to complete the challenge:
Is it tweeep or tweet when you send something out?
Hi, in case someone doesn't answer before I do, a Tweet is the action verb. Tweep is your fellow Twitterers. (That latter is made up word.) :) Anyway, I too will do this in the course of the day, and remember the use of lists to keep your content categorized. Looking at your total timeline can be overwhelming and can quickly be a time suck.
Twitter: @js_orozco
Done! Trying hard to get this twitter thing down!
I'm catching up after a weekend away. So far, so good - I've entered into some illuminating conversations with other writers.
More on Days 6-9 here: http://rhymeswithtao.blogspot.com/2012/04/aprilplatformchallenge-days-6-9-leave.html#.T4LqY05SQy4
Done. This one was fun. I like connecting with other people. I'm glad we didn't have to sign up for something else today. I need to learn to work with what I have.
Done! Loving it!
Done.
Done! Thanks for hosting Robert --I feel like I'm making a more concerted social media effort each day. :)
I've had my twitter account a while but I rarely reply directly to someone. I follow mostly celebrities but I'd love to interact with real people especially writers. I will definitely 'follow'members from this blog. It's difficult me to write, blog, Facebook, tweet, and still have a life. But I guess we all have that problem.
I'm behind in this challenge but I'll be playing catch up now that my kids are back in school.

This I can do in no time. That's a blessing of massive proportions. I was answering tweets last night, so this could be fun.
Thanks, Robert.
HELP!!!!!!! For those who have been twittering or who have grasped chirping happily.. I am in risk of grave narcissistic injury with THREE followers. Need to change my profile to something shorter... If nothing else this "tweeting" exercise will cut my wordiness. For others in the same boat of none to few followers could we all follow one another?... ARGH!! I never leave a challenge but I am a little at sea in the silence of tweets! (Did tweet and retweet .. and feel again as a TWIT for the first time in my life... AH A GOOD LIFE LESSON .. THANKS NOT BOB!
Ooh, direct contact with others! I'm on it, captain!
As a master at "randomness," I sent out several Tweets, FB comments, and 1 blog reply WHILE checking out my LinkedIn site--before reading today assignment.
Question: I posted a Tweet through http://bitly.com/ (so that I could shorten the URL I referred to) and the post also appeared on my FB page. Have I set Bitly to post to both places? Is it automatic?
Done! I'm realizing that social media is turning into a full-time job for me. I don't know why it took me an hour just to finish this task alone. Add blogging, commenting, etc., and that is half a day. But it'll all be worth it in the long run!
Yeah, I love twitter. Sharing the love, tweet love, gives me warm fuzzies!
Done.
Too funny! I'd already done it and a little more. Thanks for opening my eyes to a whole new world, at least new to me.
Done, done and done. ;)
Done!
Aaaww . . . I think I'm doing it right! But once I get my copy of The Twitter Book (ordered a few days ago), hopefully I will be sure that I'm doing it right!
Linda Hatton @MouseTalesPress
Done. Please don't forget to add those later Tweet contacts to your list when you get a chance.

Robert -
I'm done with today's portion. I really am enjoying the challenge thus far and the community that is being created by it! AWESOME!
Monique
Having fun replying to tweets. I find it is much more fun online than trying it on my smart phone, which is much smarter than I am apparently, because I haven't figured out how to do that yet.
Done
I'm an old hand at this, so no problem.
Yeah, twitter can be a major time suck because there is so much interesting stuff out there to read. I'm also involved with a music loving group that posts links to great music. Between the articles, blog posts and videos people share on twitter, I can easily lose a whole morning. You have to learn to limit yourself or there's no time left for writing!
Best of luck to you newbies! I've been there. You'll get the hang of it.
Woo-hoo...challenge #9 done! I love checking things off my list.
Done. When I look at tweets, I am surprised at how little new content there is. Everyone seems to be tweeting about things they have read, or heard, elsewhere. Is that the idea of Twitter? A place for referrals?
Done! ;)
Done!!
Like Alice in Wonderland Twitterdee and Twitterdum want me to stay and play games all day! I shall have to quietly slip away...
I just discovered this April challenge yesterday. Is it too late to join in if I can catch up on the tasks from day 1?
Done, done, and done :)
The challenge itself took no time at all. I'll second the advice of this challenge -- I never "got" twitter until I started responding to others and retweeting news that struck me as important. One of our group here mentioned not having replied becs they follow celebrities -- I've actually had some endearing connection moments with actors, celebrity chefs, etc. - so don't be shy.
The longest part of today's challenge is clicking through Robert's list of people to follow. @RachelleGardner is one of my favorites. I also follow the New York Times and Guardian (UK), as great sources of news.
If it's not coming up in another challenge, I'd add that using hashtags to participate in conversations has been one of the most meaningful connections for me. For ex, right now some social media folks are using #cjsm, and publishing folks in Chicago are live-tweeting news from the Tools of Change conf there: #tocchicago. If you read/write, try #litchat, or for YA/kid lit: #YAlit, #MGlit or #kidlit.
Thanks for updating the list of twitter id's here -- I'm enjoying connecting with many here.
Ok, done. This has been good for pushing me out of my comfort zone. As a strong introvert, I don't go looking for lots of extra connections, so this can feel like WORK for me. But good for building a platform. Which is why I signed on, so let's have at it!
Tweets a-way! And thank you for feeding my Twitter addiction.
Done! Ahhhhh!
Done, and then some! I am actually having a lot of fun with twitter! I will eventually go forward with learning about lists/Tweetdeck etc, but 1st, it's back to Day 8's LinkedIn Challenge!
Complete...and then some!! I am having the best time with this challenge!!
Thanks Robert and all the other participants!
Handled! We're in my wheelhouse right now, and I'm excited to have people interacting with me on Twitter.
Too easy. I've been tweeting back and forth with my new tweeps since Day 4! Still working on trying to follow all the #MNINB folks though.
Done. Replied to three tweets, and in the process got to read some really interesting items I would probably have otherwise missed. I'm starting to see how Twitter can be particularly valuable for writers.
BTW, I'm at @PatrickJWalsh01 on Twitter, for anyone who wants to find me there.
Done. Dr. Pearl (and other newbies), use hashtags or search words to meet other people. For example, put #amwriting in the search bar, and your timeline will be filled with people who are writing right now. Then follow a few who seem interesting to you. If you have a hobby, search on that word to meet interesting "tweeps."
Done. And I second Elizabeth's suggestion about the hashtags. Some writing communities I've found: #amwriting, #stabbylove, #writer
Tweet on, folks!
Done. And now off to a book signing (not mine, though I wish).
Done. My head is still reeling!
Done :)
Done, though still behind. I foresee library time tomorrow!
Done, and although it was easy peasy, it took longer than I wanted. :-)
All done! I'm having a ton o' fun on twitter, thanks to all the #MNINB folks!
Done, though that was harder than I thought.
Done. For those who want to be able to add something when they retweet, may I suggest using TweetDeck? It allows you to edit a tweet prior to retweeting, so you can add a comment of your own if you want.
All done!
I actually loved this challenge because I've been fighting to urge to get a little "overwhelmed" by maintaining an online presence/platform, and the idea of it being as simple as "write on the blog. write/respond to a few tweets. update linkedin. keep up with your facebook." has been very ... soothing, I guess!
Hey Nicole here. Done and fun twitting fellow twitters.
Until tomorrow.
LOL, I've been on a construction site all day and was wondering why my phone was getting all sorts of tweets. Now I know why. Good thing I've been responding too! Challenge done!
Thanks to everyone for messaging me!
Done! I fairly frequently manage three tweets a day, often in conversation.
Done! Pretty much covered just by thanking the sweet tweeple in our little community for followers!
Done! Thanks Robert! It's fun to connect with others who have similar interests! I have found several other Word Nerds through Twitter!
Did it. Still don't get it.
Done :-)
Done...
Done. Fun today.
Sorry to whine, and maybe I'm just late catching up but don't forget @monaahill please. Oh, btw I tweeted.
Done.
I'm starting to get back into the routine of checking Twitter each day. So this one is getting done on a regular basis again.
Rachel @ProNagger -- I use Tweetdeck, a free download, to manage Twitter. With Tweetdeck, when you hit RT button, you get a chance to edit before sending it off.
Also, Tweetdeck allows you to put folks you follow in various columns. I have one column for writers (that's where I find you), another for my hobbies, another for my target audience, and so on.
done...just need to do it routinely like FB
Done! Thanks for the opportunity to connect with others on Twitter. This has been the best thing that has ever happened to my Twitter account.
Done - yesterday
Whoops thanks for thosevehomhelped yesterday! Elizabeth et al... Forgot to post
Done!! Thank you for the opportunity to enter the Twitter world with ease.
Done and done!

Two today and one yesterday.
It was surprisingly hard...
complete
Done-done. :)
Done. Who knew Twitter could be so much fun?
done and fun.
Done.
Done and then some.
done
I tweeted 3 times yesterday. I'm up to date. I hope I remembered to write "Done" here everyday...
Done!
Done.
I had this done yesterday @krobwritings on twitter, but I forgot to post it and let you know. I have it linked over to my facebook page for optimization
Done. And still wondering how/why some people have pictures up with their comments and some don't. ??
Done
So many things to comment on! I do hate the retweet button on twitter that doesn't let me add anything, though. Kinda shuts down the conversation.
Okey Dokey, now this WILL be interesting!! celi
Wow. Maybe I need to expand my Twitter follows. Done. BTW, do most of you Tweet from your phone or computer?
Just sent lots of tweets. Some directly to the person, some responding to a tweet.
Done via HootSuite. LOOOOVE that free app... and you can schedule your tweets in advance so you don't bombard your followers... of course, you miss the immediate give-and-take, but there are times for both. Enjoy! - Veggie Val
Done. Responded to tweets from people I met here! Thanks for doing this, RLB.
I've completed Day 9 (and I should be up to 13 about now, right?).
done! I must admit, I'm having a hard time finding a solution to scheduling all my social media and blogging responsibilities...this challenge helped!
Done!
Done!
Ok, well somewhere I put up my twitter thing. I believe there was an alternate place to post that. Anyway I have had a twitter account for a long time as @carolstephen2

Done. Easy as I already do this on a regular basis!
Done! Sorta fun!
Did it, and saw you Tweeting while I was there. So I made it four replies instead of three. I realize I'm a little late finding this challenge but I'm enjoying it and it's pushing me to get a lot done that I've been putting off for too long.
