Tammy thinks I'm just putting on sympathy weight because of her pregnancy, which started around the same time that my I started packing on the pounds. Maybe, but I'm not conscious of it. I have three theories of my own:
- My competitive nature. Maybe instead of the "sympathy" weight, I'm just trying to remain the alpha weight gainer in the house. Okay, if this is the case, I'm not conscious of it either. Sooooo, could it be...
- Hibernation weight. You know, my primitive instincts are telling me to eat-eat-eat and sleep-sleep-sleep. Only two problems with this theory. First, I haven't been sleep-sleep-sleeping. Second, winters in the Atlanta-area feel like springs and autumns in Ohio (where I spent the first 30 years of my life). With a double-wide shadow cast on my first two theories, the real reason is probably...
- My utter lack of self control. I don't have to eat, but I do. I could put that fourth hot dog down, but I don't. Do I need to drink calories every day? I do not. It's my fault.

Speaking of staying tuned, tomorrow I should be able to make a big announcement related to my upcoming poetry chapbook.

And yes, my NCAA bracket is busting. Pitt was one of my Final Four teams, and Butler knocked 'em off earlier tonight. I picked St. John's to make the Elite 8, and they didn't even win their first round game. Oh well. Theres' always next year for the perfect bracket.

Want to know what the most amazing diet that has worked wonders for me in the past and should do so again? Then, check out Dr. Sandra Cabot's The Liver Cleansing Diet, which may not have the most appealing name, but it does have very appealing results. I know, because I've successfully followed it in the past with great results.

Well, good luck with the diet. Though I'm sure you will do very well with it again. You're motivated!
Diet looks intriguing.
Go get 'em. " 'em" being the pounds. Me, my recumbent bike and I have bonded. In the last two weeks I have lost 6 pounds. That is one tenth of the weight I should lose to be what I was at forty. Ain't gonna happen, not when I have to spend so much time in bed. But the hibernation, inactivity, shut in pounds leaped on this winter for me, too... and I am 58, so it takes time. At least so I thought. Anyway, may you and your liver take you where you want. Boy, does THAT sound bad. I guess the tooth fairy did not leave me my brain under my pillow. Maybe tonight. You will accomplish your mission, there, I've no doubt.
Hah, my bracket was busted as well, but goodness gracious, it was a fantastic game!
Tomorrowis Carolina :) and Ohio State; my two teams and how ironic they cold meet?
Good luck on your diet, but I've always learned there is no such thing as a diet, only a way of life, so just change the way you do things and the weight will come off....
I'll look forward tohearing about your poetry book...
you know, being tired, esp. if you're sleep deprived, is one of the most accurate determiners of weight gain in the U.S. (doesn't hold true for all other countries - dunno why). Anyhow, in addition to taking care of your diet and exercise, please make sure to get some rest, okay? [sorry, my inner doctor came out for a second - i'll shut her up now]. take care of yourself -
Who isn't on a diet these days (or everyday)? I eat whole bran flakes with non-fat milk in the morning, a peanute butter sandwich with an apple for lunch, carrot sticks for a snack, a tuna salad w/ cucumbers for dinnner, and a handful of whole almonds for dessert. Plus I run in the morning.

Good stuff, Sandra. Sounds like a winner.
Ina, don't worry about sharing your inner doctor. I can use any and all advice on weight gain and loss.
Thanks, Tracy. Oddly enough, my busted bracket is still currently 6th in my bragging rights pool. I guess Pitt fooled nearly everyone.
Thank you for the encouragement (and humor), Jeannette. And you too, Marisa.
I'm sure you can drop those extra few pounds off at some corner someplace...while on a run or something.
I'm hoping y'all have little baby girl. Tammy needs more pinkness.
Did I miss the big chapbook announcement?
Good luck with the diet!

Alpha weight-gainer? Ha Ha! I gotta tell that to my hubby! Try the "half as much" diet -- you only eat half as much as you want, and the pounds come dripping off.
