In the meantime, all three of my school-age boys have made it back to school. Tammy and I have purchased school supplies, back-to-school clothing, paid assorted fees, and have already started receiving requests for more money. (One thing about public schooling: They just keep asking for more-more-more.)
Of course, part of the fun of back-to-school shopping is buying up loads of cheap writing supplies, including 50-cent (the price, not the rapper) Composition Notebooks. And 24-pack Crayola crayons for a quarter. Wow!

As part of the back-to-school madness, Tammy and I registered Reese for Cub Scouts, and somehow--don't ask me how--I became a den leader. I'm actually very excited and overwhelmed by the whole process, but mostly excited. So, Mr. Brewer is now the Den Leader of Den 2 in Pack 420 (yes, I'm aware that the pack number is what it is).

Baby Will has been talking more and more, and I'm pleased that one of his most essential (and most used) words is book. Of course, he also says a lot of other things, but he loves to sit with ma and da and eese and read a book.

Also, I've had a bunch of poems accepted for publication this summer from a series of poems I've been writing. (Click here to read about how that process developed.) So far, I've written 43 poems and have had 10 accepted--just this summer!
- MiPOesias accepted the first poem
- Hobble Creek Review accepted five poems
- Ghost Ocean Magazine accepted two poems
- The Smoking Poet accepted two poems
So, that's been exciting as well.

One last note: I've decided to start training for the Atlanta Half-Marathon on Thanksgiving Day. I'm mostly just including that information in this post as a form of peer pressure. Now that I've said, I need to do it.

Yeah, I'm already getting the impression of just how much work it is going to be. A lot! But the boys (first graders) have already been cracking me up.
