Poem in 32 Words or Fewer

The crew @32poems on Twitter tweeted a contest today (with a 10/30 deadline) to write a poem in 32 words or fewer. Of course, I had to give it a try.

lost & found exploring
she splashes through waves in the moon's shadow
as he chases her laugh breaking against
the sand we wander through looking for shells
that hide like everything from the sun.

Quick update on me: I'm still on my diet with Tammy, and I've now lost 22.6 pounds in just over 4 weeks. Plus, I haven't been getting headaches anymore, which were getting pretty regular--even with some temperature swings (which always used to cause headaches). Plus, my skin feels amazing. I totally recommend this diet to any and all.

Also, I've been doing the whole Den Leader thing, and I'm getting more and more into the role. My den is making progress toward their Tiger Cub advancements, and I think we're having fun doing it.

I'll be speaking at the Red Clay Writers Conference on November 6 in Kennesaw, Georgia. My topic is on building a writing platform, but there will be many other talented writers there too, including Collin Kelley, Stephanie Davis, and others. (Click here to learn more.)

Yet another awesome event you tell us about and I cannot attend. Sadness.

The challenge sounds interesting. I think Fanstory had one where you had to write a love poem in fifteen words. Pretty cool.

Do you want to share more about the specifics on the diet? I lost 15 on ww but it took 15 weeks! And now I've plateaued. I'd like to jumpstart it some :)

If you know anyone who needs someone to fill in for a reading sometime in Atlanta I'd love to come down! I could probably even get my husband to go with me, if I promise him a trip to Fry's...

Yes, the diet is called a liver-cleanse diet. It involves eating mainly raw veggies and fruit, whole wheat (bread, brown rice, pasta, pita bread), and fish. There are plenty of other things too, but I can't list them all here. Get on Amazon and look for The Liver-Cleanse Diet by Sandra Cabot (hope I spelled her name right).

I'm not involved in setting up the Atlanta readings, but I think Collin Kelley is. Also, look up information on Java Monkey, which has a weekly poetry reading and is run by Kodak Harrison (on Sunday evenings, I think).

I'd love to watch one of your readings!

Thanks for the details, Robert! Sounds similar to what I am trying to do this week to get myself past my plateau!

I tried to get a hold of someone at Java Monkey once but no luck. I really want to read down in Atlanta, I know so many great people!

Of course, if you are ever coming up to Charlotte we have some grea open mikes that we'd love to have you and Tammy visit :)

Robert,

Great job in your seminar at Red Clay writers event! Helped me to nail down some ideas about social networking and caused me to rethink a couple of items.

Nice to meet you personally, and best wishes with your diet. I lost about 30 pounds, then gained about 10 back, but feel very healthy at this weight. It's really a challenge to keep in shape in the USA.
